Don't Have A Valentine?

So what? Throw a Tea Party on that ever-so-dreaded "Holiday!" It's a wonderful way for you and your single girlfriends to have a fabulous day with treats and dress up without having to feel sorry for yourselves for not having a boyfriend. I've always thought Valentine's Day was overrated anyway! Just think about it.. would you rather spend your wallowing in a box of heart-shaped chocolates that you bought for yourself, drowning your sorrows with a cheap bottle of wine, watching a cliche romantic comedy staring Jennifer Aniston and yelling "IT NEVER HAPPENS LIKE THAT IN REAL LIFE" at the screen when the movie ends with a "Happily Ever After." OR would you like to go vintage shopping, bake treats, dress up in lace and pearls, decorate your apartment with frills and hearts, and spend the day with your girlfriends eating, drinking, and laughing! I think we know what the obvious and not to mention, the more healthy choice is!  Besides, I've spent the day wallowing and drinking and watching the cliche movie and let me tell you the next day you just feel stupid and hungover! So, below I have a few examples of cute, fun things you can do to ensure that you and your ladies have a FANTABULOUS V-Day!

1. Make Cute Invitations! If the invite is handmade chances are the recipients will spend more time looking at at and are sure to get excited about the party!

2. Plan a day for you and your girls to go vintage and consignment store shopping! The tea party will be more fun if you all dress up like little girls do when they play tea party! I'll never forget dressing up in my mom's clothes, shoes, and jewelry! It adds a fun twist to the party and makes for super cute photo ops! If you all can't work out a day then make sure to tell your girlfriends to go look in their grandmother's closets.. they are sure to find tea party-worthy treasures in there!

3. Plan to bake pretty and delicious treats! If you need ideas you should watch the Marie Antoinette movie and look at the colors and designs on the cupcakes and chocolates they eat! Every time I watch that movie I want them so bad!

4. Decorate. Decorate. Decorate. The decorations at a tea party are what truly make the tea party a success! There needs to be doilies, hearts, banners, lace, tulle, tulle, lace, more tulle, hearts, and did I mention lace? Cover your tables with pretty table cloths and make sure the dessert table has towers and towers of treats! Also be sure that there are cute floral centerpieces and make sure there are NO FAKE FLOWERS! Even if you're on a budget... go to the grocery store and make the centerpieces from those flowers! Include sequins and streamers in your decor! Remember... tea parties are girlie so have fun with it... make it look like the tea party princess threw up in your house! (Yes, the tea party princess does exist  ) And also have fun things laying around like feather boas and plastic tiaras... things that will make your party fun and memorable and yet again make wonderful photo ops!

5. Make sure your guests leave with a gift... After all it IS Valentine's Day! You can make up goodie bags filled with candy jewelry, ring pops, pixie sticks, chocolate hearts, and a personalized valentine. If you or someone you know has a polaroid camera you can snap pictures during the party and slip away near the end to put the photos into cute little frames and hand them out before each guest leaves. This also works if you have a printing dock for your digital camera. It could even be something as simple as a small box of chocolates. Just show your guests your appreciation for their attendance! You could even create a "Mailbox" for each of your guests and ask that your friends each bring cards to put in each person's box, just like in elementary school!

This is an easier way to make a "mailbox" out of tissue boxes

A few other things to consider when throwing your tea party are: Music Playlists,  When the party will being and how ling it will last, Activities to do during the party i.e. Games, Trivia, etc. And will there be prizes for activity winners? Just have fun and be creative! Throw such a good tea party that it will become a V-Day tradition within your circle of friends!

Someone call The Queen & let her know I'm coming

So, my dear followers, I have some absolutely FANTASTIC news..... I will be in England for my Ever-So-Important 21st Birthday this summer and I just can't wait! Of course the first thing that comes to my mind when I'm told I'll be going anywhere is "Well what am I going to WEAR?!" So, in true "Emily" fashion that's the FIRST thing out of my mouth when my mother tells me this awesome bit of news! I began going through my wardrobe in my head, flipping through all of the UK fashion magazines, and searching British blogs for whats going to be hot in Great Britain this summer! Once I compiled this information I thought the next thing I needed to do in order to prepare myself (and also keep my ADD mind on track) for my British-Inspired shopping trip, is to make a trend board! And that's just what I did on Polyvore! So, my dear followers, the following are the things I will literally be throwing into my suitcase for my British Birthday trip!

- Fedoras
- Floral Tights
- Skinny Jeans
- Shoulder (Across-the-Body) Bags
- Prints & Florals
- Oversized Tees & Tanks
- Vintage-Inspired Jewelry
- Oversized Sunglasses
- Aviator Sunglasses
- Pleated Shorts
- Thin Leggings in Neutral Shades
- Gladiator Sandals
- Rain Boots (For the rainy days, since England has a lot of those)
- Flowy Tops
- Sheer Tops
- Sequin Skirts
- Summer Scarves (Prints, Florals, & Solids)

I won't be going shopping for the trip for a few months, but I just could't wait to start planning! Even though I'll be sight seeing and doing touristy things I still want to look the part... and you never know when I might just happen to bump into Prince Harry! How awful would it be if that happened and I wasn't looking fabulous? :)

Cocktail Dress Color Wheel

So I made this Color Wheel in Polyvore today.... I was supposed to be writing a science paper about the Fashion Industry's negative effect on the environment but it was depressing me and to be honest it was scaring the living daylights out of me so I decided to bring a little color into my day and stop thinking about how the industry I love so much is taking such a negative toll on the planet! I hope you like it... and for those of you who may be taking a color theory class.. perhaps it can help! And P.S. If you haven't ever used/heard of Polyvore, click the link and sign up or check it out! It's AWESOME and it's wonderful for projects or for fun!

So, I'm Not Much of an Artist ....

BUT... I HAVE been practicing a lot lately... It was one of my many New Years resolutions to get better at drawing and sketching. I've always been able to see designs and photographs I want to draw in my head, but once it would come time to execute them on paper... well let's just say it wasn't EVER pretty. Anyway I figured I would share my progress with my fellow bloggers and followers so you can track my progress right along with me! Next resolution... learning to sew and design... one step at a time though :)

Victoria Beckham loves her a Birkin bag!

Victoria Beckham truly has it all...with her beautiful husband, her slim, sexy, body, her beautiful boys, a baby on the way, and did I mention her gigantic selection of the ever-so-coveted Hermes Birkin bags, she truly has it made! This selection of Birkins is rumored to have cost over one million dollars! Regardless of the price of her Birkin selection or her absolutely fabulous life, I've alway been a huge fan of VB and I will continue to admire her impeccable sense of style and her never-ending selection of Birkins!
